Ah- if this is your WIP you should probably remove the 'elf motivation' from the title, words in the title act as tags, so this would class as a second submission, which might disqualify your actual submission.
Anyways, nice work, I like the environment! And I see that pokeball on the shelf there lol, nice touch XD

got it, thanks for the tip!

Woah, you really did do a corkboard :D You were right with your review on my work, it does seem more effective with the posters a little more packed together, and with the main ones being bigger. The three big posters are a clear focal point, so well done on the composition!

I love your clean linework, I'm not all that familiar with digital drawing to be honest, but there's definitely a set style in your piece. And I also love the texture of your cork board, being the only part without lineart, it really allows the posters to pop out. The shading on the gold plaque is also really good, you really captured the shine, and the writing actually does look like it's engraved! Oh, and I know it's only a small thing, but nice touch with the curls of the paper, makes everything look less static and flat.

So well done, again my favourite part of this would probably be the composition, everything fits together so nicely! And good luck in the competition ^_^!

Oh my! And I thought mine was creepy...

I really like this idea, this would definitely motivate me, that hat looks really painful! The drawing is really well done, especially that expression, you can almost see the poor elf descending into madness thanks to his Jolly Top. The yellow nails and teeth make it even creepier, it's like he is so run down from all the work that his health is declining. I also like how you put the number on the hat, it gives some perspective on how many elves are working in those conditions, and it makes me wonder how many poor elves have been fitted into a Jolly Top. Hopefully less, now that they have this poster to motivate them >.<

The only other point I can really make is the colouring, I like that you have used so many bright and positive colours for such a dark poster, it exaggerates the need to be Jolly. One thing to maybe improve on is the shading of your colouring? The shading looks like it's mostly gradients, which do work for a cartoony style, it's just that I feel it makes the poster slightly more flat. I do however like the texture on the wreath, it brings a little more detail, which is personally something I visually like ^_^

Anyways, well done, I love how sinister this poster is, and good luck in the competition!

Thanks for the feedback!
I know how it feels to be in "elf" so to speak, during this season, and I especially feel bad for box store customer service workers, that's kind of how I came up with the idea, overworked, underpaid, and forced to reflect a mood that can be unrealistic. Mix that in with Santa's elves, where they likely are not paid, fed poorly and over worked, what better motivation then modern engineering to help them keep on track.
I don't do a lot of digital coloring, and I was afraid to go to dark with the colors. But I do see what you mean about shading a bit more, would give it a lot more depth.
Overall I am really happy that it translated as I had hoped!
Thanks again! and Good luck to you as well!

Aaw! He's gorgeous! I love wolves :P

This is really good, especially for a first real attempt at drawing fur! The colours are wonderful, I know I can sometimes struggle with getting the right colours, I find it a bit difficult to work out how the lighting would react to the fur texture. The brush you've used makes him look so fluffy, it's a really nice effect. I also love the details around the snout, I can also see that you've thought about fur lengths, and you're really good at thinking about the direction of the fur!

The only thing I can think of for improvement is that the brush you've used does make him look kinda blurred, but really this isn't much of an issue depending on what you were going for; as I said above, it helps make him look extra fluffy :P

Thank you for your great review! I really appreciate the feedback.

I could tell just from the thumbnail what style this was! You've done an amazing job :D Clean colouring, very recognisable characters, and I love how you've brought the characters together using the river spirit in the background. The paper cutouts in the corner are also a nice touch, I like how they seem to flow out.
And good luck with the competition! ^_^ Don't worry, I'd say this turned out very well! It's just like Ghibli's style!

I really like this! ^_^ The vignette around the picture really helps to bring your eyes towards the characters in the centre of the picture, and helps add to the dark atmosphere :)
I also like the idea of making this look like a poster promoting the show, the writing helps make it more interesting and eliminates some of the space around the two characters.
And although most classical animations look like they were drawn with ink, I actually like this pencil effect, the graininess of the pencil helps add even more to that old, classical atmosphere.

So well done! I really like this idea! :D The only thing I'd say is that most of the classical Disney cartoons I've seen use little black dots for the eyes, but I can see why you've added the white areas, it really exaggerates that evil expression on Sweeney's face!

Codakose responds:

Thank you :D your words really mean a lot. And I'm glad you like the pencil effect, since I was unsure whether that would be a downfall of the piece. :)
